Becoming a Grandparent Class
For Grandparents, sister’s & brothers
Tuesdays 9.30-12.00pm
The concept for the Becoming a grandparent class arose from topics/concerns/ expectations with couples expressed during their Childbirth & Parenting classes.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Aim of the Grandparent class

To provide and opportunity for clients to discuss their expectations and realities of Grand parenting.

To explore the role of Grand parenting- Relationship & lifestyle changes that may occur.

To provide an appropriate forum for discussions surrounding changes in birthing and parenting practices.

To discuss how to support new parents emotionally and practically when they become new parents.

To provide information on the resources and services available in the community.
Overview of what is covered in the class

To discuss the different role. Realities and expectations of Grandparents

To give Grandparents an overview of the role of Father’s in pregnancy, labour and parenting.

How to provide practical support leading up to the birth and the first few months after birth

Updating Grandparents on the labour, the stay in hospital, breastfeeding and changes that may have occurred in parenting
-
To refresh Grandparents on practical skills in caring for the baby to enhance support and understanding.
