Maternity: Childbirth & Parenting Education Program

Breastfeeding Class

Wednesdays 11.00- 1.00pm or 4.00-6.00pm

This class is two hours in length, held three times a month and is free to those women booked into North Shore Private Hospital. Bookings are essential and should be made in advance to avoid disappointment. You are welcome to attend after you have completed your regular Childbirth and Parenting Classes, approximately when you are between 34-38 weeks pregnant. (Earlier if you are expecting twins) First time mothers and women who have breastfed before are encouraged to attend.

The class educator is a lactation consultant; we encourage you to attend even if you have completed the Childbirth & Parenting classes.

  • How to breastfeed a new baby
  • How to position and attach a new baby
  • Trouble shooting and how to get help
  • Expressing and storing breast milk
  • Working and breastfeeding
  • Resources, support groups, telephone help, internet sites available in the community.
