Caesarean Section & Parenting Class

For first and second time parents who will be having a Caesarean Section
Second time parents may only want to attend the Caesarean section of the class.
Saturday 9.30-4.30 pm
Caesarean Section (Part A) 9.30-11.30 am

This class starts at 9.30, (please arrive 15 minutes earlier to register) and finishes approximately at 4.30 PM.

You are welcome to attend from around 32 weeks pregnant. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided.

What is covered in the Caesarean Section (Part A)

  • What to bring to hospital
  • Signs of Labour and what to do (planned or emergency)
  • Preparation for caesarean section, (planned or emergency) and what to expect
  • Partner support during a caesarean
  • Having a caesarean under a general anaesthetic
  • Having a caesarean with an epidural or a combined epidural and spinal anaesthetic
  • Immediate care of the mother and baby

  • What to expect in the first 24 hours

  • Post natal routine for mother and baby
