What are the visiting times?

Visiting hours are 11am-12md
3-5pm
6-8pm

Partners are welcome at any time during the day and overnight if staying in a parenting suite. Rest period is from 1-3pm

Is internet access available?

Yes. If you have your own laptop, please ask the ward receptionist for password details to access wireless broadband. If you do not have a laptop, a net kiosk is available. Please ask ward receptionist for tokens.

Can my partner order a meal?

Yes. Partner’s meals can be ordered and paid for at the main reception desk on the ground floor .

How long do I stay in hospital once I have had my baby?

After a vaginal birth, you can expect to stay for 4 nights. After a caesarean section birth, you can expect to stay for 5 nights. You may go home earlier if eligible to be discharged under the ‘Home Care Midwifery Program’.

Where do I park?

Patient and visitor parking is available in the multi-storey car park, which is owned and operated by Royal North Shore Hospital. Parking fees are displayed at all entrances to the car park. Payment can be made at the ticket machine located on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park prior to leaving or at the parking office in the foyer of RNSH.

Concession, daily and weekly passes are available for purchase at the Parking Office on the ground floor of the Royal North Shore Hospital. The Parking Office also has information about long-term parking costs and conditions.

What is an antenatal card?

Your antenatal card will be given to you at you first appointment with your Obstetrician. Please carry it with you at all times and present it on admission to the Birth Suite.

When are the maternity tours?

Maternity tours are conducted every Sunday at 3pm. Please wait at the Ground floor main reception area

Do you need an obstetrician to book in?

Yes

Can you recommend an obstetrician?

We are unable to recommend an individual Obstetrician. There is a list of Obstetrician that are accredited at NSPH on our website.

Do I need to book in for antenatal classes?

Yes. The classes offered are listed on our website. Please book early to ensure a place at your preferred class.

Are refreshments provided in classes?

Yes, refreshments are provided depending on the length and time of the class.

Who can fit my baby capsule?

Please call the RTA on 132213 to find your nearest RTA authorised fitting station

Can I make an appointment to see a Midwife before my baby is born?

Yes. Please call 02 8425 3282 to arrange an appointment.
