I have worked in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for over 20 years. For the last 15 years I have combined private practice at NSPH with a visiting consultant role at RNSH where I am a consultant in the high risk obstetric clinic and am involved in medical student and specialist training. I am a past Chair of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at NSPH.
My specialist training was at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney University where I also did advanced training in laparoscopic and complex pelvic surgery. I have an interest in high risk obstetrics, multiple pregnancy and medical disorders in pregnancy, colposcopy, bleeding disorders, fibroids, laparoscopic surgery and prolapse surgery.
Whilst I am supportive and welcoming of women who decide to have elective Caesarean section I find most women want the opportunity for vaginal delivery if safe. With appropriate support, monitoring and care I consistently have significantly lower intervention rates than average. I also provide an external cephalic version service in both the private and public hospitals to turn breech babies and give women a better chance of vaginal delivery.
