Dr Alexandra McRae is a specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist who provides care to both paediatric and adult patients

Alexandra (Alex) completed her undergraduate medical degree MBBS BSc (Hons) at UNSW in 2001. In addition to her Sydney based general Obstetric and Gynaecology training at The Royal Hospital for Women and Royal North Shore Hospitals, she has rural, interstate and international Obstetric and Gynaecology experience.

Alexandra completed her fellowship training with a focus on Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology, minimally invasive surgery and reproductive endocrinology at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead where she continues to hold a clinical post as a Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecologist.

She also has a public clinical appointment at The Royal North Shore Hospital where she is an Obstetric consultant and supervises the registrars at weekly antenatal clinics.

Alexandra is committed to clinical excellence in reproductive health. She has completed additional training in Sexual Health and STI management, maternal critical care, management of medical disorders in pregnancy, surgical repair of post partum anal sphincter injuries and regularly updates her obstetric emergency, fetal surveillance and resuscitation skills.

Alexandra is a member of the RANZCOG Board of Examiners, a lecturer for the Diploma in Child Health /International Postgraduate Paediatric certificate and is regularly invited to lecture General Practitioners, Paediatricians and RANZCOG trainees and fellows at educational meetings including the annual NSW RANZCOG pre Membership exam course.

Alexandra provides individualised gynaecological care to girls and women of all ages, races and sexual preferences. She is holistic and evidence based in her approach, which includes conservative, medical and surgical management of benign gynaecological disease with a preference for minimally invasive surgical techniques.

She offers comprehensive personalised obstetric care to her low and high risk antenatal patients from preconception advice or fertility assessment, to post partum contraception management of any obstetric complications that may arise.

She consults on Saturdays to allow greater flexibility for her antenatal patients.

Alexandra was born and grew up in rural NSW, which is evident in her honest, friendly and down to earth manner. She is married and has two children and enjoys pottering about in her garden.
