Midwifery Home Care Program
The North Shore Private Midwifery Home Care Program offers women and their families a quality choice of postnatal care. It enables women to recover from the birth of their baby in the privacy and comfort of their own home, supported by midwives.
What does a home visit involve?
During your home visit your midwife will perform a check of both you and your baby, and perform any necessary tests. Your midwife can also help you with feeding, settling, parenting issues and advise you on community support available.

Eligibility Criteria
- Uncomplicated vaginal or caesarean birth.
- Your obstetrician must give consent for you to be eligible.
- Your baby’s paediatrician must give consent for your baby to be eligible.
- It is preferable if you have support at home from your partner, a family member or a friend.
- You must live within the geographical area of our service.
- Discharge must be prior to 9.30am on Day 4 for a vaginal birth or Day 5 for a Caesarean Birth.
