A/Prof Pillinger studied at the University of Sheffield from 1988-1994, was then appointed as an Advanced Trainee in General Surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital in Syndey from 1999-2002.
His post Fellowship training was a Clinical Fellow in Colon & Rectal Surgery at The Academic Surgical Unit, Castle Hill Hospital, Hull, UK from 2003-2005, only the second Fellow to be appointed for 2 years at Castle Hill, one of the premier Colon & Rectal Surgery Units in the UK.
Dr Pillinger is a General Surgeon with an interest in Colon & Rectal Surgery. having commenced Consultant practice in 2005. The major focus of his practice is benign and malignant colorectal pathology, and offers minimally invasive Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery, Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery and TAMIS procedures, diagnostic and interventional colonoscopy. He has trained in Robotic Colorectal Surgeons in NSW.
