Childbirth & Parenting Education Program
North Shore Private Hospital is committed to planning and providing a comprehensive childbirth and parenting program to prepare parents for the birth of their child. Our educators are all experienced clinicians and are employed within our Maternity Unit or Lower North Shore Early Childhood Health Centres. This ensures a continuum of care for you from your time at North Shore Private and into the community. Every class includes a tour of our maternity ward.

Bookings and more information
We don’t want you to miss out! We recommend booking your desired class midway through your pregnancy to ensure your preferred place. An ideal time to attend your classes is from 30 weeks gestation and onwards, this will help you to retain the information given in the class. Class numbers are restricted to maintain a personal and conducive teaching environment.
Our class costs covers you and your support person (excluding the Grandparents class). We also ask that you or your support person does not attend classes if you are unwell or suffering from known diseases such as chickenpox, measles or shingles.
A ticket on our booking system includes:
- Admission to a chosen class for you and an additional (one) guest
- Tour of the Maternity unit
- Educational material
- Light refreshments
- Discounted parking for North Shore Private patients
The cost of your antenatal classes may be covered by your health fund. We advise you check with your provider before making payment.
If your health fund does not cover your class, our Antenatal office will make contact with you to organise payment. Once payment is processed, a receipt for your class will be mailed to you and your place will be confirmed. For cancellation please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org two weeks prior to the commencement date of your class. Please contact Maternity Reception on 02 8425 3242 for any further questions.
