Dr Stephen Vernon is a Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist on the North Shore Hospital Campus. He graduated from the University of Sydney with degrees in Medicine and Medical Science, before completing his pre-vocational training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney and physician and interventional cardiology training at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney.
Dr Vernon has expertise in coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention, CT coronary angiography, echocardiography, and stress echocardiography. He consults in all aspects of cardiology including: coronary artery disease, cardiovascular risk assessment, valvular heart disease, heart failure, and arrhythmias.
In addition to his clinical role, Dr Vernon is an active clinician researcher and medical educator. He is currently completing his doctoral studies though the University of Sydney investigating novel biomarkers and disease mechanisms in atherosclerosis utilising advanced technologies and machine learning techniques. His research has been presented and published in international peer reviewed journals. He is committed to improving patient care and is an investigator on numerous clinical studies and trials.
