A gastroscopy is an examination of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum using a thin flexible tube (endoscope). It is usually performed to evaluate symptoms of indigestion, upper abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or difficulty swallowing. It is also the best test for finding the cause of bleeding from the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

Endoscopic ultrasound is a procedure to assess gastrointestinal and lung diseases, by looking at the lining of your oesophagus, stomach and duodenum using a flexible telescope. The telescope has an ultrasound scanner attached to it so that your specialist can scan the structures beneath the lining of your intestines such as your pancreas and bile ducts.

ERCP is a procedure that combines upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy and x-rays to treat problems of the bile and pancreatic ducts
