DR KATH WHITTON

BSc(Med), MBBS(Hons), MRMed, FRANZCOG

Dr Kath Whitton is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist working from North Shore Private Hospital who has an interest in fertility.

Dr Kath Whitton is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist working from North Shore Private Hospital. She prides herself on being calm and compassionate, and on providing thorough, holistic care for women at all life stages.

As a young adult she completed a Bachelor of Medical Science and was lucky to live and work in Switzerland for a few years before coming home to study Medicine at the University of Sydney. She completed her FRANZCOG through Royal North Shore Hospital and in addition to having a Masters in Reproductive Medicine, she is completing CREI subspecialty training with IVF Australia.

Having an interest in reproductive medicine, she is really keen to be involved in the care of women and/or couples seeking fertility. She enjoys working with young women who have hormonal, menstrual and contraceptive concerns, and women at the other end of the reproductive years, in the perimenopause and menopause. She is a skilled surgeon and enjoys working with women to develop an individualised management plan for their needs.

Obstetrics was her first love in medicine, and being involved in the care of a new family remains one of the most fulfilling parts of her role. She practices up to date, evidenced based medicine, and takes time to work with her patients to ensure that they feel listened to and part of the decision making surrounding their care.

Dr Whitton is involved in teaching medical students at Notre Dame University and the University of Sydney, and is a course writer and assessment marker for students completing the Masters of Reproductive Medicine at the University of NSW. She thoroughly enjoys teaching and mentoring students and junior medical officers.

She grew up on a property in a small town in southwest NSW called Cootamundra, but now lives on the North Shore of Sydney with her family. She has 3 children, including twins, and a very busy, sporty household. She loves to play netball and spend time with her children.
