Dr Basia (Barbara) Lowes is a highly trained, caring and empathetic female Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon striving to provide individualised, compassionate and inclusive care that respects every woman’s unique story and health needs, at different stages of their life journey.

Dr Basia (Barbara) Lowes is a highly trained, caring and empathetic female Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a keen interest in Laparoscopic Surgery striving to provide individualised, compassionate and inclusive care that respects every woman’s unique story and health needs, at different stages of their life journey.

Basia is a fully qualified Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists. She received her Medical Degree from the University of Sydney in 2010, having previously completed a Bachelor of Law with Honours. Her general medical training was completed through the Northern Sydney Local Health District, and she went onto specialist training in high-risk Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and The Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick. Basia completed an additional 2-year fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery accredited by the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery Society (AGES). She is also proficient in open and vaginal surgery, and holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery, as well as a Masters of Women’s Health Medicine. She offers up-to-date and evidenced-based care, including conservative, medical and surgical options tailored to individual needs.

Basia is an active member of the AGES Society and is a representative on various RANZCOG committees, including the NSW State Committee. She presents regularly at conferences & meetings, and has published in academic journals on various OBGYN topics. She is passionate about supporting education & wellbeing of current & future generations of doctors, midwives and medical students, and is involved in teaching through RANZCOG, AGES, the University of Western Sydney and the University of Notre Dame.

Basia's mission is to provide women-centred and integrated care, focusing on empathy, education and empowerment for her patients throughout their decision-making process. Basia is passionate about educating women to better understand their own bodies and creating a community of women caring for women. As a mother herself she is able to connect with and appreciate the beauty & challenges of the motherhood journey.
