Dr Mayo has an interest in minimally invasive endovascular surgery

Mayo is a specialist Vascular surgeon who is able  to manage all vascular conditions given his extensive training and experience.   He has an interest in minimally invasive endovascular surgery and complex open vascular surgery.

Mayo consults in St Leonards, Frenchs Forest and Wahroonga, and will go the extra mile to ensure urgent patients are seen promptly.  His approach to his patients is to provide holistic care through education, clinical excellence and accessibility. He operates weekly at North Shore Private Hospital as well as other hospital in Sydney’s Beaches and North Shore.

Mayo spent his early life in Melbourne, born to migrant parents from Sri Lanka and attended Ivanhoe Grammar School. After obtaining his medical degree at Monash University, he completed his internship at The Austin Hospital. In 2009, Mayo moved to Sydney and completed Specialist Surgical Training in General Surgery and obtained his Fellowship in General Surgery in 2012.

Vascular Surgery presented a new challenge to Mayo and he undertook a further four years of Fellowship training in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery in Auckland City Hospital, St Vincent's Hospital Sydney, Royal North Shore Hospital Sydney and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney.

After gaining his Fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery he worked as a Consultant Vascular and Transplant Surgeon at Austin, Northern and Epworth Health in Melbourne before moving back to Sydney at the request of his wife. As they say 'happy wife, happy life'......

Mayo has spent time at overseas centres of innovation and excellence in Hong Kong and London to see how processes can be translated to his practice in Sydney.

He has a keen interest in teaching and is involved in the General Surgery selection of candidates for advanced training through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.  Mayo takes interest in teaching surgical trainees and medical students. He has presented in international meetings and peer reviewed journals.  Mayo is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery, The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Medical Association.

In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors with his wife Komathy and his mini dachshunds, Schultz, Otto & Lenny (#schultztheminidaschund #ottotheminidoxie #lennytheminidachshund). He has a passion for tinkering with his classic BMW.
