International Day of the Midwife

Globally, the 5th of May is celebrated as the International Day of the Midwife, highlighting the importance of partnership between midwives, mothers and the advocating for the health and well-being of the families in their care. In honour of this international event, JOHNSON’S® Australia today unveiled the winners of the annual JOHNSON’S® Midwife of the Year Awards at ceremonies hosted locally at the winner’s hospital.

North Shore Private Hospital and JOHNSON’S is proud to announce the NSW state winner for Midwife of the Year is Barbara Maguire of North Shore Private Hospital, NSW. Barbara was nominated by many families with one family quoted as saying: “Barbara was amazing during my labour. She took a painful experience and made my hubby and I calm and focused.”

Sue Engele, Director of Clinical Services at North Shore Private Hospital said: “We are so proud to share this special acknowledgment of Barbara. Barbara has been a Midwife for 30 years and 18 years with North Shore Private. A highly respected Delivery Suite Midwife by our Obstetricians and colleagues, Barbara’s calm and kind manner, outstanding clinical knowledge and love for midwifery is a testament to her receiving this award.”
