Dr Jonathan Negus is an orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in knees

Dr Negus performs primary and revision knee replacement surgeries, arthroscopic and sports injury surgery, osteotomy and realignment surgery. Dr Negus’ career in Orthopaedics has a strong academic and research focus, particularly on optimising patients’ post-operative outcomes with individualised, detailed approaches.

He has contributed chapters for books, published in prestigious journals, presented his research findings at conferences worldwide, and is an invited reviewer for several major international orthopaedics journals. Part of his PhD thesis examined the use of novel technology in rehabilitation after knee replacement surgery. His research in this area has earned him several awards, including the Foundation for Surgery Scholarship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (2010) and the AOA Registrars Association prize for best registrar research. With over 15 years of training, Dr Negus has been awarded higher degrees from the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London and the University of Sydney.

He has worked and trained both in Sydney and in London, with visitations and fellowships across the United Kingdom and Europe to enhance his specialist training. His regular teaching engagements at the University of Sydney – working with junior medical officers, allied health staff and medical students – offer welcome opportunities to pass on his extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for his chosen field. He also serves as a clinical lecturer and supervises MD students
