Dr Animesh Singla is a vascular surgeon on the North Shore Campus.

Animesh is a specialist Vascular Surgeon. He provides endovascular and open treatment for all vascular conditions. He is also an Australian qualified Transplant Surgeon with specialist skills in providing care for access creation and management, peritoneal dialysis, kidney transplantation and retrieval surgeries.

He has completed advanced training in vascular and endovascular skills across leading high-volume and academic centres across Australia and New Zealand where he has learnt a broad skill base. This included Flinders Medical Centre (Adelaide), Port Macquarie Base Hospital (NSW), Waikato Base Hospital (New Zealand), Liverpool Hospital (Sydney) and Royal North Shore Hospital (Sydney).

Through his training he developed a passion and special interest to improving the quality of life and care for patients suffering from chronic diseases of end-stage renal failure and long-standing diabetes. His passion to offer more complete treatment for his patients led him to completing a further two-year subspecialty training in kidney and pancreas transplantation, on top of his Vascular experience. His first year was as the inaugural Transplant Fellow at Royal North Shore Hospital, in Sydney.  His second year was at Westmead Hospital, one of the world’s leading academic and clinical hospital’s in Kidney and Pancreas transplantation. He gained further valuable skills in pancreas transplantation, laparoscopic peritoneal dialysis catheters and organ donor retrieval surgeries.

Animesh has a strong academic presence and currently completing his own PhD thesis to improve access to transplantation, particularly to rural and remote parts of Australia. He has extensive record of selected and invited national and international presentation and peer-reviewed articles in Vascular and Transplantation. He is a keenly involved with teaching and supervising juniors to foster enthusiasm for research which can improve clinical care. He also holds several academic positions including Senior Clinical Lecturer with University of Sydney and Honorary Lecturer with the University of New South Wales. He has active involvement with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as an Examiner for Surgical Primary for General and Vascular. He also serves on several elected committees including Transplant Section and Medicolegal Section.
